ALBANY, GA --

Albany State University held a 5k run Saturday morning to raise money and awareness for the Red Cross.

Asia Cook, Miss Albany State, coordinated this event because she feels not enough people know how important it is to donate blood. Cook said unfortunately bad things happen all the time, and people are left needing blood, and she wants to make sure that there is never a shortage.

Students also had a chance while registering for the 5k to sign up for a time slot to donate blood.
