ALBANY, GA. --

For FOX 31's Facebook story of the day people wanted to know what are the signs of a concussion.

Doctors say things to look for are symptoms like headaches, dizziness, difficulty sleeping, or the lack of ability to concentrate.

Concussions can often occur in contact sports like football, soccer, or any sport where people take a hit.

Medical professionals say helmets and protective gear can protect the skull, but they can't stop a concussion from happening.

“Another misconception is the idea that a CT scan or a cat scan can in the emergency room or the hospital would tell us that there is or is not a concussion and that's not the case,” explains Dr. Kiyoshi Yamazaki, “A cat scan says it's normal or not and whether there is no bleeding or cracked bones but it says nothing about the concussion,”

The sports medicine specialist says if you think you have a head injury or concussion the best thing to do is to seek medical help immediately.
