ALBANY, GA --
Officials with the Flint Riverquarium are continuing their efforts to stay operating into 2013.

Tuesday, they approached the Albany Board of Commissioners to request $50,000 dollars a month into March to continue operation.

Should the commission decide not to provide those funds, there is a strong chance that the Riverquarium would close its doors within 30 days. That would also include moving all the animals, and prepare the building for closure.

Officials with the Riverquarium say they are searching for outside funding as well, however they need that $50,000 a month as a "band-aid" to get them back up on their feet.

Discussion also ranged to the possibility of having a commissioner sit on the Riverquarium board to make sure money is being spent correctly.

Commissioners brought up concerns of how money was spent in the past, including a former director who was making $95,000 a year.
