ALBANY, GA -- Marine Corps Logistics Base Albany held its annual, Marine Corps "Kids" Birthday Ball, celebrating the 237th anniversary of the United States Marine Corps.

But this ball is a bit different, it gives Marines the opportunity to celebrate the occasion with their family members.

Captain Kyle Thomas of Marine Corps Logistics Base says this event is just a way to say thanks to those Marines that serve away from their families for extended periods throughout the year.

"This is about the families and the military children. As well as the children of Defense Department personnel. So this is just a way for us give back to military families, and actually celebrate the occasion with their kids," said Captain Thomas.

Officials with Marine Corps Logistics Base Albany say they hope to continue holding the event in the future.
