Department of Transportation closes lane of traffic in Albany

Front Street has been reopened according to the City of Albany Department of Engineering.

Initial Story 10/23/12
The Georgia Department of Transportation is closing a lane of traffic for two days to install new hardware related to a new gas main.

The closure began at 9 A.M. Tuesday, October 23, and will continue through 9 A.M., Thursday, October 25 at the intersection of Broad Ave. and Front St.

Georgia DOT say they have scheduled the lane closure as crews are removing the gas and water mains from the Broad Avenue bridge and placing them under the river. 

Once they are removed, demolition of the bridge can begin.

DOT officials want to remind commuters to be cautious when travelling near the work zone.
