ALBANY, GA --
After shooting and killing a pet dog Saturday, Jason Morefield, of Worth County has been charged with reckless conduct and discharging of a firearm near a public highway.

Morefield shot the dog in the head Saturday instantly killing the animal. The dog reportedly had been an issue for weeks, and he had attempted to have animal control come out multiple times.

Morefield says he'd had enough when the Shih Tzu mix growled at his children and tried to bite them.

Worth County Sheriff's Office officials say they plan to arrest Morefield later this evening.
