ALBANY, GA --
Facilities Manager Dwayne Greene presented a draft of rules and regulations for the Riverfront Park on Front Street downtown Monday morning during the county's Recreation Committee meeting.

Greene says the police had received several complaints and wanted to draw up official rules to enforce.

Noise, animals and activities such as grilling and food preparation are addressed in the rules draft.

The rules stipulate the park and Turtle Grove Playground open at dawn and close at dusk. The Festival Springs Fountain opens at 9 am and closes at 7 pm seven days a week, between Memorial Day Weekend and the day after Labor Day.

Concerning music and animals:
Volume of radios must not disturb others. Patrons shall preserve the peace and quiet enjoyment of the parks by observing all ordinances and state laws governing noise and amplified sound.
Dogs must be on leashes (6 ft. max) and restricted to the Riverwalks only. Dogs must be under the control of the owner at all times. No dogs, even on leashes are allowed inside the Festival Springs Fountain area, the Turtle Grove Playground, or the grass areas at any time. Service animals for disabled individuals are not restricted to any area of the park.

The following items are prohibited:
Alcoholic beverages, glass containers, grilling/camping/fires, littering, graffiti, noisemaking devices, fireworks, illegal weapons, illegal drugs, skateboards, rollerblading, skating, deep fat fryers, charcoal fires or grills.

If you have any questions, you are asked to call Dougherty County at 229-431-2121.
