ALBANY, GA --

14,000 pages of documents kept by the Boy Scouts of America on individuals suspected of child sex abuse have been made public by Portland attorney Kelly Clark.

“You do not get to keep secrets about hidden dangers to children, period end of conversation. That's what they did, it was wrong/’, said Clark

The LA Times have incorporated these newly released documents, into its online data base of nearly 5,000 child sex abuse accusations within the boy scouts. That includes four cases from Albany one from Tifton and one from Blakely. Fox news is reporting these so called perversion files detail how some abuse was swept under the rug.

Dougherty County District attorney Greg Edwards say, “covering up the crime makes you an aider and abettor and you could be just as liable for the crime as the actual perpetrator.”

To our knowledge, out of those six local accusations there  has only been one abuse conviction in 1972. Child molestation cases have a seven year statute of limitation, so when it comes to new victims coming forward, time is of the essence in order to prosecute.

“The more immediate information is usually the best information”, said Edwards.

When it comes to the boy scouts of America, Wayne Perry the Boy Scouts of America President said, “There’re places we fell short and didn't do the job we should have and for that we're profoundly sorry.”

Perry also said that scouting is a leader among youth-serving organizations in preventing child abuse. And that they require background checks; and administers comprehensive training programs for personnel.
