Federal agency recognizes Monsanto safety practices

LEESBURG, GA -- The Leesburg Monsanto was awarded the Occupational Safety and Health Administration Voluntary Protection Program Star and Flag for safety recognition on Thursday.

State and local dignitaries, farmers, employees and more gathered at the Leesburg Monsanto to celebrate the accomplishments the company says it took over five years of work to qualify for.

The company -- which applies biotechnology to agriculture -- voluntarily goes through audits performed by OSHA as part of the program.

The company says there were no findings during the audit and the accomplishment is made possible because their safety actions are a team effort and all employees are involved.
