ALBANY, GA -- For FOX 31's Facebook Story of the Day, people wanted to know how much longer will Southwest Georgia have to deal with mosquitoes.

Environmental officials in Albany say that depends on how the weather holds up over the next month. If temperatures continue to cool, then there will be less mosquitoes. However if the weather stays warm the mosquito presence will be higher.

Environmentalists say the temperature has to get a a certain temperature before they stop spraying repellant.

“Normally below 59, we won't be doing any spraying at that temperature because then they begin to not be out as much but above 59 we will continue to spray,” says Donell Mathis, Albany Environmental Control Manager.

Mathis says since this is the time of the year when West Nile carrying mosquitoes come out the most, people still need to protect themselves by applying repellants to their bodies.
