ALBANY, GA. --

For FOX 31's Facebook story of the day you wanted to know if there are any restrictions to audio levels in your car.

According to Albany police that answer is yes!

Under the state and city prohibited noise ordinance, if your music can be heard in excess of 100 ft, then it's too loud.

100 feet is about the average size of a residential lot.

Those with complaints can call authorities and have an officer patrol the area until the offender is caught.

“The state ordinance calls for up to 12 months in jail and or a $1,000 fine and the city ordinance will be up to six months in jail and or a $1,000 fine,” says Cpl. John Segroves, with the Albany Police Department.

Officials say they can also pull over a driver if his or her music is too loud.
