ALBANY, GA --
Students in grades eight through twelve were able to get a hands-on lesson in construction at Albany Technical College's sixth annual Careers in Construction Day.

Students not only watched but participated in seven fields from masonry to welding.

Vendors like Georgia Power said it's a great way to show kids what the job entails and make them want to work in Albany instead of branching out elsewhere.

While construction used to be a man-dominated profession, the women of today were also out representing that they, too can hold their own with a power drill.

Women in Construction used their table to focus on training young women to be strong and knowledgeable in the field.

The vendors are hoping their displays will make kids want to further a career in construction and revive a field they say is dwindling in numbers.
