BEN HILL COUNTY, GA. --

Ben Hill County Commissioners have once again approved a measure to raise the county's millage rate.

A public hearing was held Tuesday afternoon to give taxpayers one last chance to address the board about the matter.

After the hearing, commissioners voted to raise the millage rate from 13.66 percent to 14.785 percent.

Two commissioners voted for the measure and two voted against it.

The chairman of the board broke the tie.

Commissioners are now awaiting confirmation from state officials before the rate changes.

“All of our documents have been put together. The tax commissioner is sending those to the Department of Revenue. Hopefully they will be approved," says Frank Feild, Ben Hill County Manager.

Feild says if the rate increase is approved, it's expected that the tax bills will go out next week.
