ALBANY, GA -- The SAT scores of Georgia’s 2012 graduating seniors are higher then the previous year.
Georgia students had an average score of 1,452 which is 7 points higher than 2011, it was however 46 points shy of the national average, 1,498.
Locally, Albany High and Dougherty Comprehensive High saw a decrease in scores, while Westover Comprehensive High and Monroe Comprehensive High saw an increase.
Westover Principal, Willaim Chunn, attributes the rise in scores to both teachers and students,"It's says our teachers are 100% committed about the academic focus, and our student body, when they come to Westover they know when they come through the door every day, that we are 100% about the academic focus, and I'm very proud of them."
A bright spot in Dougherty County is that 93 more students decided to take the SAT’s this year compared to last.
