LEE COUNTY, GA --
FOX 31 Facebook friends want to know what animals, besides cats and dogs, do local animal shelters take in.

Animal control officers with the Lee County Animal Shelter say they've taken in everything from raccoons to deer and even an emu.

Parrots and rabbits have also been accepted.

Officials say many of the animals are were kept as pets but once they were captured, the owners never came forward to pick them up.

Wild animals are normally released back into their natural habitat, while small pets are often times adopted out.
