ALBANY,GA --
Ray Charles was celebrated Sunday in Albany.
To honor his birthday, folks gathered at the Ray Charles Plaza downtown to hear his daughter, Sheila Raye Charles sing a medley of his songs.
Mayor Dorothy Hubbard was on hand to proclaim September 23 - October 31 as an ongoing festival called Ray's Days.
After that, they all took a bite out of a huge piano-shaped cake that even had mechanized Ray Charles figurine.
Albany will be hosting the Ray Charles Music Festival October 27.
