ALBANY, GA. --

Although Hurricane Isaac made a turn away from Georgia, GEMA officials are asking Georgia residents to use this as a reminder to be prepared in case of disaster.

National Preparedness Month starts this Saturday and officials with the Georgia Emergency Management Agency’s Ready Georgia campaign want your cooperation.

They're asking all residents to 'pledge to prepare.'

This means taking all necessary steps to ensure comfort and safety for you and your family during an emergency.

“Make sure that you have your ready kits in place, such as your water and food supply for three days, a NOAA weather radio, a first aid kit things of that nature and have it somewhere by the front door or somewhere easily accessible,” says Brittany McAlpin, GEMA Ready Georgia Spokesperson.

By visiting www.ready.ga.gov and creating a Ready profile, Georgians can receive a tailored communications plan for the entire family that includes the specific amount of supplies to put in their household Ready kits.
