ALBANY, GA. --

Wednesday marked the first day for the fall semester at Albany Technical College.

Around 4,000 students have registered for classes.

That's about 700 students less than there normally is at the beginning of fall semester.

Officials say changes in the Hope scholarship and financial aid issues have affected a lot of students.

However, for those students who didn't meet the enrollment deadline, officials say it's not too late.

“There is a c-term that begins October 16th where you can come in. Not all classes are available for c-term because of clinicals and things like that but students can check our website and check on c-term classes that are available,” says Wendy Howell, Albany Technical College Publicist.

School officials say they're hopeful for a stronger turnout for the spring semester.
