ALBANY, GA. --

A Baker County woman who was trying to vote was notified that she was listed as deceased.

Baker County election officials say it was a mistake on their part and the woman was given a provisional ballot.

She was able to cast her vote into a sealed envelope that officials said would be counted immediately.

There are several reasons why a person may have to vote provisional, however election officials say never walk away if you run into an issue.

“Your poll worker should always ask if you would like to vote provisional ballot. There is always an option. Never take somebody's word that you can't vote. Georgia voters always have an option to vote,” says Melissa Watson, Baker County Elections Supervisor

Officials say voters who forget their I.D.s and vote provisional have three days to prove their identification so that their vote counts.
