ALBANY, GA. --

United States Congressman Sanford Bishop made an appearance in Albany Tuesday afternoon to spread some encouragement to local students.

Bishop stopped by Darton State College to introduce himself to students and meet with the school's president.

The purpose of his appearance was to welcome students back for the fall semester.

“I just want to be supportive and encourage these young people and the faculty, people who will shape their future, through education because education is the escalator to upward mobility,” says Rep. Sanford Bishop, U.S. Congressman D-Georgia.

After leaving Darton, Bishop headed to Albany State University to welcome those students.
