ALBANY, GA --
A full house at the Dougherty County School Board meeting Monday brought out frustrations from the public regarding the board working as a team.

Board member David Maschke presented his findings regarding a recent consulting contract, which attorney Maurice King says should not be conducted by one individual.

"It's almost as if he's doing, what Mr. Maschke wants done and Mr. Maschke does not represent all of the citizens of Albany-Dougherty County," said King.

King spoke in front of the board addressing his feeling regarding Mashke's presentation, stating that it may have been used simply to benefit Maschke.

"There are a lot of people who believe that if you're going to say something that's wrong, you need to say it across the board, you don't just say it when it might benefit you," said King.

Despite these criticisms, Superintendent Dr. Joshua Murfree says, he enjoys seeing this kind of passion from the community.

"That means there are people that really care, they want to focus on children, they want to get beyond people bashing each other. This is our district, this is our school system, our children and if we focused on these children we can have a great school system," said Murfree.

The issues with the contract had reportedly been resolved before the meeting, however citizens still made it clear that the board should be acting as a unit, and not as individuals.
