ALBANY, GA. --

Firearm sales in certain parts of the nation are seeing an uptick since the mass shooting in Colorado.

Authorities in the Atlanta area say concealed weapon permits have surged to around 50 applications a day, which is double the amount they received before the massacre.

In Dougherty County officials say the number has increased some, but not by much.

“We're still steadily trying to get them in as fast as we possibly can. We're even taking them to the house and trying to keep them under control since we had the DMV come and change their license as well. There is a small increase but not that much,” says Dougherty County Probate Court Clerk Amanda Nobles.

Nobles says they're working hard to process the applications they have.
