ALBANY, GA. --

Darton College has made a new adjustment to the way they teach Spanish to those in the medical field.

The Spanish Medical Language Certificate is now being offered online.

Darton officials say the program gives working medical professionals and medical students a chance to gain basic skills needed for communication with Spanish-speaking clients.

They say placing the program online allows people from all over the world to attain desired qualifications and it also affords working students the opportunity to study at their own pace.

“The students who are nervous about taking it online for this first semester we're going to have our foreign languages coordinator still in the classroom, so they can meet with an instructor. She can get them ready for an online program. They don't have to just jump right in. They will have support throughout the entire process,” says Elizabeth Perkins, Darton College Interim Director of Humanities.

Students will have to take one course in the fall, spring, and summer to complete the certificate in one year.
