ALBANY, GA. --

People who drive down Jefferson Street in downtown Albany will have a slower travel time for the next few weeks.

The lanes in the intersection of Jefferson Street and Roosevelt Avenue have been altered because of construction.

City employees are re-routing the water lines in that particular area.

Officials say the construction is in preparation for a new railroad crossing.

Workers expect to have the work done within the next few weeks.
