ALBANY, GA -- A new study shows the economic impact of colleges.

A new study by the University System of Georgia's Board of Regents say the 35-school institution has more than a $13 billion dollar impact on the state.

In Southwest Georgia there is a significant impact as well according to the study which looked at 10 Southwest Georgia counties in fiscal year 2010-2011.  Albany State University had a $148 million dollar economic impact and is responsible for 1,772 jobs, and Darton College had a $119 million dollar economic impact and is responsible for 1,481 jobs.
