Local man claims he was shot in the face during an early morning home invasion on Sunday / Fox 31

ALBANY, GA --
A local man told the Albany Police Department he was shot in the face after six men broke into his house at 1511 Cordell Avenue early this morning.

William Stephens told officers the men were after a winning scratch-off lottery ticket worth $500,000 that he bought outside of town on Wednesday.

Stephens said he was shot in the face by one of the men while running away. He was treated by EMS and transported to Phoebe Putney Hospital with a minor facial wound to his left cheek.

Police are investigating the details surrounding the shooting.
