Police responded to a deadly shooting early Tuesday morning.

Early Tuesday morning Cordele police were called to the 500 block of West 18th Avenue for a man injured by a gun.

Family members told police that 39-year-old Antonzo Smith went to his back door to speak to someone and shortly after they heard gunshots.  When they ran to the back door, family members found him lying on the ground bleeding from a gunshot wound.

Smith was taken to the hospital, however he was pronounced dead on arrival.

At this time Cordele Police are working with the Georgia Bureau of Investigation to help solve this case.  If you have any information you're asked to call Cordele Police Department.
