ALBANY, GA --
In the Facebook story of the day, you wanted to know if parents get a say in the curriculum at their child's school.

The State of Georgia mandates that students take certain core classes. In many school systems, a student’s class schedule includes more than just the core curriculum. Those extra classes are what the parents can have a say in.

Dougherty County School System's Public Information Officer RD Harter says the Dougherty County School System welcomes parents' recommendations. "Public education works to serve the students of Georgia. We're challenged by a number of things, but one thing we need is the partnership. our superintendent really promotes the partnership of parents and community in improving our schools."

If you have any recommendations, parents are encouraged to attend a school board meeting and let them know your thoughts.
