DOUGHERTY COUNTY, GA --
The trip to work might include a few detours this week as road maintenance and upgrades happen across the area.

The Georgia Department of Transportation will begin construction on the shoulder of U.S. 82 and State Route 520 and State Road 133 in Dougherty County Monday morning.

The work will last from 7:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. every day until June 28st.

During this time, one of the lanes may be closed with a flagman directing traffic.

GDOT says there have been 57 workers killed in the past 30 years due to drivers failing to slow down around work zones and asks that the public use caution when taking these routes.
