ALBANY, GA. -- After a school bus monitor in New York is bullied by a group of students, many people across the nation are wondering what type of punishment will the children receive.
Karen Klein waited patiently on the bus while being taunted and called names.
The school that the children attend has sent out a statement that the students will be punished but locals are wondering what happens when this occurs in our schools.
Officials with the Dougherty County School System say they have an aggressive procedure when dealing with this type of behavior of students on a school bus.
“First you would notify parents that you have a problem with a child and the child could eventually be suspended from school and from bus riding privileges for acting in ways they shouldn't,” says R.D. Harter, Dougherty County School System Public Relations Officer.
He says each school has student handbooks that describe what's acceptable and what's not.
