ALBANY, GA --
Marine Corporal Jason Womelsdorf was deployed to Africa Monday with friends and family in attendance.

Womelsdorf had been stationed at Marine Corps Logistics Base in Albany, and finally got his opportunity to go out and see the world, an opportunity he says, has been a long time coming.

"I'm pretty excited for the opportunity, this is a long time dream coming true for me to go to Africa. Never dreamed I'd be doing it on the Marine Corps opportunity, so I'm looking forward to it," said Womelsdorf.

As several family members embraced Womelsdorf, all that could be seen was the Marine smiling ear-to-ear; excited for the opportunity to see the world and experience new things.
