ALBANY, GA --
Archeological activity is going on at the multimodal site on Flint and Roosevelt in downtown Albany. A construction crew is working on fuel tank removal where a fuel station used to be, however Assistant City Manager Wes Smith assures they pose no threat now.

“These tanks were emptied about a year ago. We knew this was coming, and we would have had to pull them out one way or the other but it's nice to see some actual progress,” says Smith.

They will soon tear down a small brick building that sits on the site as well.

An archeological crew is also on site with special equipment that can tell whether or not Native American artifacts lie underneath the asphalt of the proposed site. More work is scheduled for the coming weeks.
