SYLVESTER, GA --
85 flags lined the front of the Worth County Courthouse Monday afternoon for a ceremony to honor the local men and women who lost their lives fighting for our country.

The Memorial Day Ceremony was meant to remember those that gave the ultimate sacrifice and thank them for giving us the freedom we have today.

"If it was not for our veterans we'd be an oppressed country just like some of the others. We would not be out here enjoying picnics and holidays today," said Bettye H. Bozeman, Worth County Commissioner for District 3.

While Memorial Day reminds us of the importance of the lives that were lost, many believe we should honor these men and women every day and never take their service for granted.
