ALBANY, GA --
The Worth County Board of Education has announced the selection of a new principal for Worth County High School.
According to a press release issued by the Worth County Board of Education, Dr. Russ Chesser was approved as principal for WCHS, starting in the 2012-2013 school year. Dr. Chesser has been principal at Hutchings High School since 2010; principal at Porter Elementary School from 2007-2009-all in the Bibb County School District.
“My family and I are very excited about our move to Sylvester to join the Worth County School System and serve the community. I am looking forward to meeting the staff, students and parents associated with Worth County High School. I am indeed blessed to have this opportunity,” said Chesser in the release.
The release states that Dr. Chesser served as principal at West Jackson Middle School from 2005/2006; assistant principal at West Jackson Middle School from 2001-2004; teacher at Charlton County High School from 1994-2001; substitute teacher for Charlton County Schools from 1991-1993, and served in the United States Air Force for seventeen years (Active Duty, Air Force Reserves and Air National Guard).
The release also listed some of Dr. Chesser's training and experience, which includes completing extensive leadership training through Georgia Leadership Institute for School Improvement., guiding a “Needs Improvement” school to AYP status for consecutive years and removal from the “Needs Improvement” status, implementing Co-teaching, re-instating the PTO. He has also served as a grant writer. He holds an Ed.D in Educational Leadership from Nova Southeastern University, M.Ed. in Educational Leadership from Valdosta State University, a BS in Middle Grades Education from Armstrong Atlantic University.
Superintendent Barbara Thomas commented in the release that, “We are excited to have Dr. Chesser as a member of the administrative staff at Worth County High School. He brings a wealth of knowledge and the experience necessary to continue to guide the school and our system in the right direction.”
