The New Jerusalem Missionary Baptist Church honored mothers in the community Sunday morning by holding a Mother's Day themed Mass led by Pastor Booker T. Batten.
The theme, "Honor Your Mother," was to emphasize the importance of today and pay tribute to the woman who has always been there for us.
"Mothers are very important, a lot of us take our mothers for granted," said Sister Trena Singleton, who serves as church secretary.
"This is also a day to let them know that you appreciate them, that you thank them for all the many things they have done for you down through the years," said Sister Ruby Batten, the church’s first lady.
Happy Mother's Day pins were available to all church goers to participate in today's theme.
