ALBANY, GA --
Motorists who drove past Westover High School Wednesday noticed something out of the ordinary.
Students unveiled a "Chain of Compassion" made up of thousands of paper links, and connected it around the entire school. It is a part of Rachel's Challenge; a national anti-bullying program. Communities across the country build chains with positive messages on them that encourage students not to bully school mates.
The program is named after Rachel Scott. She was the first student that was killed in the Columbine High School shooting on April 20, 1999.
Students like Daulton Luttrell say it is a unique way to show what Rachel stood for.
"The chain itself represents something that is bigger than ourselves. It's all about coming together to represent peace and stop violence. The entire school did it. We are very proud of what we have accomplished."
The chain will be left around the school for the rest of the week.
