ALBANY, GA --
Lock your car doors and hide your electronics.

Nearly 25 cars have been broken into in just a few weeks, according to Albany Police Department Detective Cpl. George Barber.

Albany police sent out a Nixle alert on Sunday informing the public of increased entering autos in all districts and to lock car doors.

“Be mindful of the items that they're leaving in the vehicles, particularly smaller items that are easy to hide: GPS, cell phones, iPods, iPads, laptops, things of that nature,” says Barber.

Police say the people who are becoming break in victims are the ones leaving their car doors unlocked and valuables out in the open.

“Put your items away if you're going inside for the night. Take your items inside with you if you're going over to a friend's or relative’s or whatever, just do the same thing,” says Barber.

Police say they are not sure if the break-ins are connected but that they are continuing to investigate.
