Good Friday and Easter: It’s one of the holiday weekends that brings people to church – especially those who don’t attend regularly.
So what about this weekend attracts people to receiving a spiritual message?
We asked one pastor, Jason Spears of Providence, what he thought. He says it’s the spirit of Easter.
"It's a time for everybody to reflect about how much we all desire grace and mercy, love and hope and forgiveness. I think people are drawn to churches on Easter because the Easter message offers that," says Spears.
Spears says Easter weekend also a very family oriented one because the churches provide the opportunities, such as with Easter egg hunts and Easter bunnies. He says people utilize the powerful times to get together as a family and as a community.
