ALBANY, GA --
In the midst of budget planning, the Dougherty County Commissioners announced Martha Hendley as their new finance director.

County Administrator Richard Crowdis says Hendley has 12 and a half years of experience from the City of Brunswick, Habersham County and Crisp County.

Monday was her first day with Dougherty County, and Crowdis says she’s already busy with the budget.

"She left with a budget process in the city of Brunswick so she's coming right into it, and she's been through this drill a number of times so we feel confident things will move forward quite well," says Crowdis.

He says they do not have an exact number but they do expect a deficit in the coming fiscal year. To offset this, Crowdis says they are already planning to have nine unpaid employee vacation days as well as using money in their fund balance account.
