ALBANY, GA --

Updated March 23 at 3:55 p.m.

Base officials say they called off emergency response activity after concluding a recent bomb threat was unsubstantiated.

They say emergency response personnel will continue to monitor the situation and the installation command will notify the public of any new developments or findings.

The Marine Corps Logistics Base Albany Public Safety Division’s Marine Corps Police Department is still investigating the incident.

The Johnson Road Gate will remain closed for the rest of the evening and reopen Saturday morning at 5:30 a.m.

Lt. Kyle Thomas, Public Information Officer for the base, says this is the first bomb threat on the base in years. He says the threat in 2011 and in December 2010 were misinformation.
