ALBANY, GA --
The testing coordinator for the Dougherty County School System  says three of our high schools are ranking as some of the poorest performing in the state due to a new way of calculating AYP, or adequate yearly progress.

Albany, Dougherty and Monroe high schools--while all making improvements--are still ranking low on the state's scale.

Whereas AYP was calculated solely on the CRCT tests, they will now focus on other things such as overall growth and graduation rates.

“They ranked you from bottom up, SIG, grad rate and then achievement scores all the way up and so we just happened to fall in that bottom 5%,” says Testing Coordinator Renee Bridges.

“SIG" stands for "school improvement grant" of which Albany High is a recipient.

Bridges says they will be working with these schools to see more improvement.
