ALBANY, GA --
Update:

A Dougherty County Superior Court jury has found Laderick Chapelle, 32, guilty for the killing of 54-year-old Frankie Carr.

During sentencing, the defense argued that Chappell only acted in self defense. A jury deadlocked on the charge of malice murder.

Chappell was convicted of felony murder and aggravated assault.

“Because of his prior record, he was sentenced to life without the possibility of parole on the basis of the felony murder conviction, so with that, that will resolve the case,” says Dougherty County District Attorney Greg Edwards.

The trial for Laderick Chappell began on Monday.

The jury was selected and the defense provided its opening arguments.
