ALBANY, GA --
The Leesburg City Council will be going green with new water meters.

Mayor Jim Quinn says the new meters will be read faster and more accurately and will be able to tell whether your home has a leak.

The bad news--some residents will see a slight increase in their water bills, but they will soon even out.

“A lot of the meters in town are 30 and 40 years old and they read slower the older they get, and some of the meters are brand new meters and so the people with new meters are paying the correct amounts and people with the older meters aren't paying exactly what they should be paying,” says Quinn.

The contract will go out in six weeks.

After that, the new meters will take six weeks to install.
