ALBANY, GA. --
Severe weather may have postponed Mardi Gras festivities in downtown Albany this past weekend, but officials say the show will go on.

This upcoming Saturday the Mardi Gras street festival will be held on Front Street all the way down to the Flint Riverquarium.

There will be games and activities for children in the plaza and the Riverquarium will also hold its annual Turtle Race fundraiser.

In the Turtle Race, thousands of turtles will race down the facility's water steps.

“This is the fourth year for the Turtle Race. We're giving out $5,000 in cash this Saturday along with seven other great prizes; $1,200 in gas and $1,000 in groceries,” says Vicki Churchman with the Flint Riverquarium.

For anyone interested in participating in the event, there is still time to buy a turtle!

It only costs $5 to enter a turtle into the race and if you buy four, you can get the fifth one for free.
