ALBANY, GA --
After the string of tornadoes ripped through Southwest Georgia, viewers wanted to know in the Facebook Story of the Day when tornado season is in this area.
FOX 31 Meteorologist Kerri Copello says tornado season cannot be exactly pinpointed, just like they cannot predict when and where a tornado will hit.
She says meteorologists have a hard time predicting tornadoes and tornado season because there is only a small grid of data to measure them by, but they can give a guess as to when tornado season is.
“Well here in Southwest Georgia tornado season is generally from March to May, although this year we’ve had an earlier start to tornado season with a few popping up.
She adds that it does not matter which season or month it is, there is always a chance for tornadoes if the conditions are right.
