ALBANY, GA --
The Albany Convention and Visitors Bureau says the Mardi Gras Street Festival is postponed because of a severe weather threat.
The Albany CVB says because of reports of bad weather they chose to postponed the Mardi Gras Street Festival in consideration of participant and vendor safety. They say Mardi Gras Street Festival is postponed until Sat., March 10.
The Flint RiverQuarium announced they will also be postponing their Turtle Race until March 10 at 4 p.m. as well.
"Everything’s just going to happen next Saturday instead of this Saturday. we'll still have the race at 4 o’clock, all of the prizes will be given away next Saturday," says Vicki Churchman with the RiverQuarium.
For now, the marathon, half-marathon and bike race scheduled for Saturday will still go on as planned, officials say.
"A part of their package is they get two passes to the Mardi Gras street festival event event. So they're more than welcome to come back but I’m not so sure somebody from England is going to fly back to enjoy the festival," says Organizer Phil Cannon.
