TIFT COUNTY, GA --
First Update (2/29/12)
Tift County Sheriff Gary Vowell has just received word from the GBI that Shelton Ray Floyd's death was by natural causes.

Initial Story
The Tift County Coroner confirmed to Fox 31 News that 60-year-old Shelton Ray Floyd died at the Tift Regional Hospital today.

Floyd was found in his cell unresponsive this morning.  Jail employees immediately performed CPR on him until EMS arrived and took over.  Floyd was rushed to Tift Regional Hospital where he was later pronounced dead.

At this time no foul play is suspected, but officials don’t have an exact cause of death.  Officials say his body will be taken to the GBI Crime Lab in Macon on Wednesday for an autopsy.

Floyd was facing multiple child molestation charges, aggravated sexual battery charges, and one count of enticing a child for indecent purposes.  He gained access to the alleged victims while he was employed as a bus driver at Upon Eagles Wings Daycare in Tifton.
