ALBANY, GA -- Saturday morning the Southwest Georgia Bridge-Building Competition celebrated its tenth anniversary.

Forty-five middle and high school teams came to Albany State University to get their balsa wood bridges tested.

The efficiency of each bridge was measured by the ratio of the break load to the weight of the bridges.

Atin Sinha is the Coordinator of Engineering Studies at Albany State University, “they’re learning the engineering principals because this is really very rigorous civil engineering, as well as a team building exercise. They get the commitment to studying engineering."

A panel of judges from the industry and organizations were on hand to declare the students with the winning bridge late Saturday afternoon.
