ALBANY, GA --
This weeks' Go Green explores what other materials, aside from aluminum, can be recycled at Southeastern Aluminum Recycling here in Albany, Georgia.

After dropping off your recyclables, they are sorted and brought to the back of the center. Here they are made into bales to be weighed and shipped out.

On a daily average, tons and tons of materials are brought in to be recycled. We as a community have come a long way in just a short few years. People are starting to recycle and local schools are becoming involved.

Betty Sue Story, Recycling Coordinator at Darton College, says that they are trying to educate the students and make them become aware.

There are some materials, such as: spiral notebooks and magazines can't be recycled at Southeastern Aluminum Recycling. There are other places that materials can be shipped to as well. In 2011, one company picked up 12,000 pounds from Darton College alone.

If you go to a recycling area and they don't take material that you need to get rid of, don't worry, there are other companies that will take your recyclables, so keep your eyes and ears peeled.
