ALBANY, GA --

In our Facebook story of the day, you wanted to know the importance of delegates in the Presidential Primary election.

A delegate is a person who is nominated to represent a group of people from a political party.

On March 6, 2012, the State of Georgia will choose one Democrat and Republican Presidential Candidate Representative to be represented for the States the general election on the first Tuesday of November.

“In the Presidential Primaries, delegates don’t play a real role, but in the selection process, the role is played at that level and once you are selected as a delegate you can actually go to work the floor of the national convention,” said John White, a  former Georgia Legislator.

Early voting in the Dougherty County starts Monday February 15.
